Yosemite National Park is a national park located in the western Sierra Nevada of Central California.
The park, which is managed by the National Park Service, sits in four counties: Tuolumne-, Mariposa-, Mono- and Madera County. Yosemite is internationally recognized for its granite cliffs (El Capitan beeing the best known), waterfalls, clear streams, giant sequoia groves, lakes, mountains, meadows, glaciers, and biological diversity. Almost 95% of the park is designated wilderness.
