The ‘Noordlaarderbos’ (province of Groningen) and The ‘Vijftig Bunder’ (province of Drenthe) are located between the ‘Hondsrug’ and the stream valley of the ‘Drentse Aa’. These are centuries-old areas with a rich cultural-historical history.
Among other things a gallows mountain, two burial mounds from around 1500 BC and cart tracks from the Middle Ages can be found there. The Second World War is visible in the form of a tank moat. Since 1932, ‘Natuurmonumenten‘ has acquired ownership of the areas and has set out walking routes.
