Eemshaven, Groningen, The Netherlands

Eemshaven is a transhipment port located in the Groningen municipality of Het Hogeland and is the largest seaport in the Northern Netherlands. It is located on the western bank of the Eems estuary, an arm of the sea where the Eems flows into the North Sea. The Eemshaven is managed by Groningen Seaports. The Eemshaven plays an important role in the energy supply of the Netherlands. There are gas and coal-fired power stations and one of the largest onshore wind farms in Europe.
