The second edtion of the Sand Sculpture Festival Blauwestad took place from july 10 till september 30 2015. The theme of the second edition of the Sand Sculpture Festival Blauwestad was ‘Pirates and Naval Heroes’ . The impressive works of art were created by professional sand artists from home and abroad. A replica of the Batavia a famous VOC ship which was wrecked on a reef off the coast of Australia in 1629 on its maiden voyage to ‘the East’, was the largest sandship build.
