Isola San Giulio, Orta San Giulio, Lago d’Orta, Italy

Isola San Giulio (San Giulio Island or St. Julius Island) is the only island within Lake Orta in Piedmont, northwestern Italy. The most famous building on the island is the Basilica Di San Giulio. The island is 275 m long and 140 m wide. Orta San Giulio is a town and comune (municipality) in the Province of Novara in the Italian region of Piedmont. It is one of I Borghi Più Belli d’Italia (The most beautiful villages of Italy). The town itself is built on a promontory which juts out from the eastern bank of Lake Orta close to San Giulio Island.
