Dětenice is a municipality and village in Jičín District in the Hradec Králové Region of the Czech Republic. Dětenice is known for Zámek Dětenice, a castle in Barok style. The Castle is located about 70 km northeast of Prague, on the edge of the Bohemian Paradise (Český ráj).
The first mention of the original fortress dates back to 1297. At the end of the 16th century, the fortress was rebuilt in Renaissance style by Mr. Křinecký z Ronova. After Dětenice was bought by Jan Kristián, the Count Clam-Gallas, it was converted in Baroque style. In the years 1762 to 1765, the architect Zachariáš Fiegert determined the current shape of the building. During repairs carried out for the Maltese knights, only minor changes to the shape occurred. Today, the interiors of the castle preserve Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque frescoes, as well as murals and rococo and neoclassical stucco ornaments. There is also a collection of paintings, historical weapons and hunting trophies.
